Achievements to Date
- The Capital City Housing NPC (Capital City Housing NPC) delivered 300 units at the end of November 2004 at a cost of approximately R28 million, excluding land costs.
- The Capital City Housing NPC (Capital City Housing NPC) was the recipient of the Provincial Govan Mbeki Award for the Social Housing Institution of the Year for two consecutive years.
- The Capital City Housing NPC (Capital City Housing NPC) delivered 364 units at its latest development Signal Hill in 2008 at a cost of approximately R71 million, excluding land costs. The total units owned by Capital City Housing now stand at 719 units.
- The Capital City Housing NPC (Capital City Housing NPC) was one of the first two recipients to receive the Capital Restructuring Grant, through SHIP 1.
- Capital City Housing NPC is currently undertaking a 952 unit development to be known as Aloe Ridge situated in the Westgate/Grange suburb of Pietermaritzburg at a total cost of R 356 million. At the time of construction it is the largest social housing development in South Africa.
Additional Achievements
- The Capital City Housing NPC (Capital City Housing NPC) has achieved financial transparency and accountability. It has attained unqualified auditor’s reports every year since its inception.
- The Association was identified as one of the institutions that qualified for a grant from the Support Program for Social Housing
- The Association is a participant in the Presidential Job Summit Pilot Projects, purely because of its ability to deliver to scale.
- The Capital City Housing NPC (Capital City Housing NPC) was the recipient for the Provincial Govan Mbeki Award for the Social Housing Institution of the Year for two consecutive years – 2008 and 2009.
- Capital City Housing NPC was the winner of the Govan Mbeki award for the Best Social Housing Project 2017 KZN and placed as runners up for the National Award of the same year.
