We have established a reading centre on both developments. A tenant at Acacia Park noticed that many of the kids are struggling with homework, and also do not read at an adequate level for their age.
In order to do something about this, the tenant approached Capital City Housing to fund a reading and resource centre, where he would give reading lessons to kids of all ages across the complexes.
Books were purchased, as well as sourced through other means (such as donations), and the reading centre was opened. We assist the kids with homework, as well as reading lessons. Where necessary, we identify problems and inform parents, so that a plan can be put into place for remedial action.
