As part of our Community Development initiatives, Capital City Housing is re-launching the homework programme for children this September.
The Homework programme is designed to give learners a quiet and structured space to study after school. With the guidance of our Community Development Officer, Faye Terry, children can complete assignments, receive academic assistance, and develop positive study habits. We also aim to encourage peer learning by motivating older children to support younger learners with their schoolwork, helping to nurture leadership, a spirit of volunteering, and a strong sense of community.
Faye will be available on site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons, from 1pm, alternating between Signal Hill and Acacia Park developments. Children are requested to bring their homework books to the library where they will receive homework assistance. Children may also use this time to read books at the library and borrow books as well.
This programme not only aims to help improve school performance but also gives parents peace of mind knowing their children are supported in a safe environment.
Community development is about empowering people, strengthening relationships, and creating opportunities that improve quality of life. For us, this means going beyond housing to invest in initiatives that uplift children, nurture talent, and encourage growth.
By offering programmes like the Homework Programme, we aim to build a foundation for future success, because when our children succeed, our communities succeed.
